How do you sleep at night?
This is quite an open question, but to make it clearer, what kind of mattress do yo sleep on? Up until recently I swore by my 26yr old iron sprung mattress, then after many discussions (mostly one way) I caved in and decided to refresh our sleeping arrangements. Then we started on the never ending road to mattress kingdom. What style? What type? What materials? Do we need a futon? Do we need seperate mattresses for each of us? I tell you it was a bumpy ride, but finally we decided to try and find a mattress that would fit on our current bed, we have one of those with a headboard and footboard (if thats what they are called). So now that we had decided on what kind of bed/mattress we required, the journey started to find a company which cared about the environment, this would normally be quite an easy task if we was buying clothes, furniture or Web Hosting
. But we wanted a green mattress! Green packaging, green materials and green manufacturing.
After sometime we found what we felt was the best choice for us. Keetsa Eco-Friendly Cloud Mattresses this company seemed to fit the bill. Some info taken from their site:
Keetsa Green Factor
Each of our mattresses have a numeric rating called the “Keetsa Quotient™”. This is a composite score of how much each product contains a green-factor ingredient: use of recycled material or recyclable materials, use of sustainable materials such as bamboo or unbleached cotton. Some products have higher scores because we try to deliver as much of a green-factor as we can while still delivering high levels of comfort. We are constantly seeking to make products with higher and higher Keetsa Quotient scores.- Recycled materials in Keetsa products:
Steel (coil and bed frames), Base foam layer, carton boxes.- Recyclable materials in Keetsa products:
Foam, fiber, steel (coil and bed frames), carton boxes.
- Sustainable materials in Keetsa products:
cotton fabric, bamboo blend fabric.Measure guidance for Keetsa Quotient™ :

They have some interesting uses of tea that I had never heard of before, I quote
All-Natural Ingredient: EverGreen™, made from all-natural green tea, is embedded into the memory foam for long-lasting natural odor control.
This all seems a great ideal and direction for bed companies to be taking. After carefull studying of their website, I aslo learnt that they also have some special way of packaging their matresses, it seems not only do they use biodegradeable packaging but also they somehow compress their mattreses before packaging so they take up less space for transporting. I quote once again:
Our Packaging:
Because our mattresses are so durable and well designed, we are able to compress them in a box, which accounts for reduced shipping costs, smaller carbon footprint and no delivery trucks.
Not just any mattress can be compressed!
Keetsa uses a Patent-Pending process that allows all of our mattresses to come in a highly efficient package. We’ve tested many of the major competitive brands and they cannot stand up to this new technology. Only high quality components can be compressed and come back to their original shape. Keetsa has perfected this efficient process for all our mattresses and sleep products. Smaller packaging means a lower carbon footprint from the store to your house. All Keetsa products are packed into 100% recyclable boxes printed with water soluble ink. Also, the plastic bags used for the mattresses are bio-degradable.
Well we felt quite overwelmed to find such a company, in the bedding market. Now that we have our new mattress, I can once again sleep easily, knowing that I have done my bit to find another way of becoming greener. They are also offering Free Shipping to 48 Continental United States. Buy Eco-Friendly and Green Mattresses.
